There's a good reason our creator gave us our other body parts. Why are we burdened with these dirt attracters?

Ladies, "they look pretty when we paint them" is a poor answer. Wow! That gal is hot. Did you check out her fingernails?

They protect our fingertips and toes. They also help us grab or pick up objects – in the same way that beaks and claws of birds and animals help them handle food or objects.

simply because it serves loads of purpose.... it's used to give a slight pressure for when you shampoo your hair, trying to peel a celophane tape of a surface and most of all, break into bags of crisps/biscuits coz the tab in the middle cant be used properly.

They're on your fingertips, right where you can direct them to handle all sorts of tasks. Then, they're hard. They cut into softer materials like corn husks, pea pods, and bark. This helps us feed ourselves and shape our shelters. They're made of keratin, a protein you make from your food. Since we're always wearing them down, they're always growing. They are created from the soft tissue underneath, the root or "quick" of your nail.

Imagine not having fingernails when you're having an itch! lol

It is to protect our fingers, the skin and membrain veins etc.underneath.
P.S. Us girls with our pretty nails are not all like that that you very much. No answer is a poor answer, it only is to you because it is not what you want to hear. Get over yourself. stop talking to us like we are all the same. Personally I do not do that to you guys, I am sorry if other women do.But say for my sake you don't.
cheers darlin

so that you can more easily scratch an itch and so that if youre being attacked, you can use ur "claws" and also just by looking at ur nails, you can tell if you eat enough fruits and veggies and if you drink enough water by the different natural cracks in the nail, and to protect ur fingertips ......and of course to paint! if ur bored, why not make ur nails look pretty? j/k!

They are to protect our sensitive fingertips from nasal mucus and ear wax.

Also they are an emergency reserve of protein in times of famine.
