a baby cannot breathe underwater when born. While inutero, the child "breathes" the amniotic fluid, but this is not the source of oxygen etc. that the child needs. The umbilical cord is the conduit for all of the child's needs. Perhaps if the child were born into sterile oxygen-rich saline they may be able to breathe; this has been tried by the US navy with some success with adult divers, but it would not be possible for a human being to be born in and remain in a water environment. We are not designed for it; our skin, bones, muscles, etc etc are all designed and adapted for living on the land and would not tolerate being constantly wet.
Where did you get the notion that a baby can breathe under water when born?!

Babies don't breath underwater. They have a diving reflex in that they hold their breath, much the same as they have a grip reflex that makes them hold an object placed in their palm.
It IS possible for ALL humans & animals to breath liquid so long as it is HIGHLY oxygenated. The 'drowning instinct' and panic must be overcome, also the circulation of the meduim within the lungs is an issue by normal breathing means (must be circulated artificially) but it is possible.

Babies do not breathe underwater, they just have the instinct to hold their breath underwater.
If you were to put a baby under six months of age in water, they would move their arms and legs while holding their breath due to thier 'diving' reflex.

Babies can be under water, but their first breath makes them reliant upon it, and we don't drown under water, we asphyxiate from the lack of oxygen in the water.

no longer in simple terms the mattress, the closet too. ;-; If I dropped easily one of my crammed animals off of the mattress even as i develop into attempting to sleep, and the room develop into darkish, i'd enable it stay there because i assumed some thing might want to snatch my arm from lower than the mattress as i tried to %. it up. :3 i don't believe that stuff anymore even with the actuality that. I nevertheless get spooked through the closet if I watch an exceedingly scary horror movie even with the actuality that. >->
