Those goshdarn weedwackers are so scary to operate!

i do lawn care for a living. Weed wackers are a necesarry part of my job and why are you scared of the things, the nylon cord can't do much damage to you even if it gets your leg at high rpm's.

Weedwackers,
i have used the commercial weedwackers, with very large motors and four lines coming out of them.
so the small home ones don't bother me..

To me, they both have their uses. Weedwackers are great for grass and edging. Shears are great for detail work like snipping off a stray bush or vine limb.

Lol, I take the lazy way out on both! I have two types of weedeaters ( hubby and I call it "wee little deeder" due to the way I say it) and electric hedge clippers. When you have to maintain 3 yards, and one of those is a business, you take any shortcut you can!

Weed whackers...they are faster and I hate lawn maintenance, so time is very important to me!
