If the moon didn't exist, we'd have bigger problems than ocean tides. I think that the moon and the Earth cannot exist independently of one another. So I guess the answer to your question is that we would never have ocean tides... ;-)

Every day we will have sun tides. Currently we dont consider sun tides because they are small compared to moon tides.
