Without a doubt! I dont think people are giving the Wings enough credit this year.
There has been a major overhaul in Detroit and, in my opinion, its been a vast improvement. I was sad to see Yzerman go - but he is still apart of the franchise as VP. I think all the youth on the team is going to surprise a lot of people.
The only thing I am concerned with is the goal tending. Osgood is going to have to be ready to step his game up- because my money is on Dom taking another dive.

NO! the Wings will have a tough time this season, Hasek will most likely be out by the holidays, and Osgood hasn't been a starter for like 5 years and don't forget there division is not as easy as last year, heck they got like 50pts alone in that division. Nashville will be the same this year but the Blues, Bluejackets and the Blackhawks will be allot better these 3 teams were really crappy teams last year but they have improved and will make it harder for the Wings. remember they got most of their points from there own division playing this teams 8 times each, very easy to get points last year from this teams but it wont be the same this year.

I would have to say NO. There are major questions marks with the goaltending situation. Will the Dominator be healthy or will he pull another groin? And then there is Osgood (who does not go by his name), he has had lackluster years in net, he chokes in the playoffs all the time, he will need help from his Blueliners to be worth a darn to the team.

with the retirement of yzerman and shanny going to ny rangers their offense will have to work harder to score. what i mean is that datsyuk, zetterberg, and other players will need to pick up the slack in order to win thius many games. another issue ia the goaltending. hasek plays best when he is healthy which is rare due to his advanced age. ozzie ain't that good of a goaltender. the wings should have went after a younger goalie to help them remain at the top of their division. another factor is that the chicago blackhawks, columbus and the st loser blues improved their teams this season and they will play harder and better against the wings making it harder to win the points in their division. so in response i would say no. i say maybe 45 wins. the wings are a middle of the pack team now.

Even if they don't win 50 games, they're going to be really close. It depends on how well Hasek's going to play. If he doesn't do well and they have to rely on Osgood maybe they won't get 50 games. If Hasek can put on his Vezina-winning performance they'll win 50 easily.

At least 50!!!!!! The sooner Dominic pulls his groin the easier it will be to get him out of there and replaced. He shouldn't be there to begin with. What a really asinine decision by the Wings management.

Of course. Its really not a great accomplisment anymore, with overtime and shootout wins padding the wins totals for all teams.

Who cares? Regular season wins are meaningless. They need to win 16 when it counts.

When you play the Blues, Hawks & Jackets as many times as they do I don't see why not.
