I just bought a new keyboard. Sruck to the cable there there is a lable which says I should look at the health warning on the underside of the keyboard. It tells me I should be aware that using a keyboard can cause all manner of health problems from stiff neck to tendonitis and that if any such symptoms occur I should consult my doctor! It doesn't tell me how I can do translation work on my computer without using the keyboard, or suggest that if I have my office chair properly adjusted, I can avoid such problems.
Isn't this taking things a touch too far?

Well if people would stop with all these bogus lawsuits, then we wouldn't have health warnings on everything. Yes, I am sick of them too.

In my opinion, yes, things are going too far. And the only reason you see all those warnings is the fact that someone out there has already done something stupid, like use a hair dryer in the bathtub!

As for the coffee incident, at McD's, they were at fault. They were keeping the thermostats on their coffee pots WAY too high. That woman had to have skin grafts!

yeah, i agree, things are going too far. unfortunately, these types of warnings are present because a precendent has been established. in the past, people have brought litigation against compaines for the products they created because they weren't smart enough or had the common sense to use them correctly. for example, a woman burning herself when she spilt coffee on herself and then bringing a suit against mcdonalds because she wasn't told the coffee was hot. common sense would say, its coffee, its going to be hot. she was awarded over a million dollars.

to chefgrill - its coffee, its going to be hot. that is common sense. she had to have skin grafts because she was older and had thin friable skin. besides, what is the "correct temp" for a coffee pot?

Yes,its just another example of the nanny state in which we live.Everyone is so scared of being sued now so we have to have warnings on EVERYTHING.
