At around 20 weeks it is hard to tell when the due date should be because they measure the baby's body. Not all babies are growing at the same rate at that time. Because with my first baby they gave me a due date of late Feb. then they changed it to late Jan. then they changed it to mid Feb. She was born on the 9th of Feb. If you and her agree to pay the money you can actually have a DNA test done before the baby is even born. It is rather expensive or you can just wait until after the baby is born and take it then only that will tell you the truth of whether or not she is yours. Due dates can change at any time. And when they give you one most babies are born within the two weeks before or two weeks after their due date.Good luck hope you get the results you want.

a pregnancy is 40 weeks long looking at a due date calculator the due date would be in mid December if the baby is yours. after 3 pregnancies i have found that the earlier you are in the pregnancy the easier they can tell the estimated due date. the easiest way will be a paternity test. women usually ovulate 7-14 days after the last day of their period so I'm guessing it's the other guys. even if it is though depending on how you feel about the girl you could still be there to support emotionally.

If you were with her when she had the 2nd ultrasound & they gave a due date of Jan 4th, that should be the correct date. You were there & she can't lie about the due date.
She'll probably have the baby somewhere between the last week of December - 2nd week in January. Due dates are rarely 100% right on the money.
As far as which ultrasound would be most accurate, they both should have been accurate.

The easiest way to figure out a basic time is by guessing at conception. Dr's use ultrasound to determine due dates by progression of the fetus-pretty much an educated guess. A woman is ovulating (egg is ready to fertilize) 14 days before her period starts- some women are on 21 day cycles, some are on 28 day cycles-roughly. But-sperm can survive up to 4 days. So she may be yours. It sounds like she's not sure, so try to find a center that will do a paternity test-that's the only way to be sure. We can be deceiving to get what we want.

Rob,
Unfortunately, more and more Ob/Gyn docs are saying it's a due month rather than a due date so it is not exact. There obviously is a high possibility that this child could be biologically yours.
But here is the more important question... What would you do if this child wasn't? You are there now and are attending the appointments and with the mother. Do you plan on sticking around? What does your heart say?
The reason for my question back: I met my husband after I conceived my first child, he knew and knows "biologically" she is not his...however she is almost 7 now, he has been raising her and he is daddy to her. The child is what it most important.
Any man can "Father" a child.... It takes a real man to stick around and be a "Daddy"
There other option is: I know in Virginia (may be in other states) if you are not married prior to signing the birth documents in the hospital they will give a DNA test with results before you leave to verify, if you request.

I would believe the OBGYN because they take a little more time than the ER does. But, of course you should get a paternity test done just to be sure, you wouldn't want to take care of a child that doesn't belong to you. There are services to help you get the paternity test and pay for it. So, good luck! P.S. Women do lie a lot when it comes to things like this and they lie for a number of reasons the most common is that they just wanna find the best father for their child even if it means lying and saying he is the father. I would just get the test when the baby is born.

Its still possible that you are the father. I don't suppose that she has said when she was with the other guy. Three weeks difference is a huge difference. But its still possible.
And I suppose you don't know how fertile you are. They say sperm stays alive in the vagina an average of 2 to 3 days. But some stay alive up to 7 days. But I just found out that a friend of mine had a girl friend whose doctor had taken a vaginal culture 13 days after they had had sex, for whatever the reason and found that some of his guys were still swimming around in there.
So you never know...your best bet is to have a DNA test done after the baby is born.

hmm, it's kinda close. after doing the calculations...if ur sure u havent had any sexual contact with her since march, she should be giving birth in december sometime. i got pregnant late august and i'm due may 19th. it's really close though. there's no certain way to tell without doing a dna after she's born. i'd hate to say a definite no when she may be but it doesnt sound like it. sorry. dec 17th to jan 4th is quite a gap in pregnancy as far as the weeks go. a woman, if she carries full term, gives birth at 40 weeks. unless the dr is planning on forcing her to be overdue....i just dont know.

In all honesty they can be off with the date of conception by a month. There are was to get more accurate answer by blood test, they can get hormones with an approximate level or when the baby is orn the do a test to check the babies gestational age. I learned that in nursing school and after and during the birth of our son. I wasn't sure when I got pregnant and with the blood work my doc did they said I became pregnant on April 17th and when my hubby and I talked about it yep that was a nice day!
Well good luck with everything going on.

All you can do to put your mind at rest from always wondering if she is yours is have a DNA test done when the baby is born. That is the only way you will truly know I feel bad for you because I bet it is tough for you not knowing if you should buy stuff for her and be there for the birth and then to find out she isn't yours all this is very mentally and emotional draining I know but hang in there you are A good guy for not running and hiding like most jerks. Good luck Hun and I hope everything works out.
