Every so many weeks I go to Properties in Internet Explorer and delete the temporary files. Should I also delete the cookies? I haven't deleted cookies for a very long time, and I'm wondering if that's causing my computer to freeze.

Cookies in and of themselves shouldn't make your computer freeze. Cookies serve several purposes. They store information about login, visits, etc. There is no problem keeping or deleting them. Delete them if you don't mind typing login information for sites which require it.

3 types of cookies:
Per Session - These cookies are set to delete automatically.
Normal: Store login info and other user information related to your surfing on the site.
Tracking: These are slightly insidious as they track what pages you visit, not just information for a given website. These cookies are considered spy-ware.

I personally set my cookie handling so that I get notified whenever a site tries to give me a cookie. If it is a site I use and trust then I give it permission. If it is a site I am unsure of, or just don't want their cookie I deny it. Further, some sites require you to take a cookie to access period. These sites never get permission because I do feel I should be forced to accept a cookie if I don't want it.

the cookies aren't something valuable, it's only a reciept for visiting a website, everywebsite u enter put on a cooky on your computer, sometimes when u enter a password and it tells you do u want to remember the password, if yes the password is kept inside a cooky, to remove the memorizing of the password, delete the cookies and that's all

once you pull up Explorer, on the top real corner you will see a button labled "kit", click in this button to activate a drop down checklist. as quickly as you may view the drop down checklist, pick "Delete surfing history". this might pull up a window so which you will compliment what you will possibly desire to delete. in case you purely desire to delete cookies, pick "delete cookies" button, and there you have it you have deleted cookies.

Not necessarily they retain session IDs and such so that when you revisit some websites you can continue where you left off, or it at least remembers who you are.
