Go to Walgreens and get some Cold-Eeze. Get the cough drops, the other varieties taste really nasty. Cold-Eeze has zinc in it and it will help you get over your cold faster.
This product works best when taken just when you feel the first signs of a cold, but it will help a bit even at the stage you're at. Keep some on hand and when you feel that "back of the throat" feeling, take your Cold-Eeze like the directions say and your cold will be easier to deal with and will not last so long.

"Alka-Seltzer" plus for colds, orange tastes best, it won't make your cold go away any faster, it just relives the symptoms so that you can ride it out, it keeps fluids in you as well because, it must be taken every four hrs... that's what I take, my dad was a DR., and my mom a nurse. A cold is a virus, you don't get it from cold weather, or a wet head, you touch an infected area (like a door knob), then you touch your face, nose, eye, sandwich, etc. and NOW you're the "HOST" !

Try Cold Ease, they are great for cutting down the time of your cold, they have a lot of zinc. Also boil water and out a ton of salt in it, then hold right near your face and breath through your mouth. This will help break up anything you have and is relaxing. This is why chicken soup makes you feel better when you are sick, because of all the salt. Feel Better.

some things my naturopath told me and they work an absolute treat... it suprised me how quickly i felt better. For the sore throat.. gargle warm salty water. And also, make up a lemon drink. You just combine water, lemon juice and honey.. and drink it all day. It helps with germs and congestion in your head. Also, taking Olive Leaf herbal tablets help with fighting the bacteria.

Have you tried Dayquil and Nyquil? That stuff is multi symptom and works pretty good on a cold. Drink orange juice too because its full of Vit C. If you arent taking multivitamins I would recommend that too.

Chicken soup, plenty of liquids, and avoid diuretics such as coffee and alcohol. Gargle with a strong mouth wash like Listerene to help with your sore throat. If symptoms do not improve, consult a physician.
