There is knowledge that is obtained when trying to clone something. This knowledge concerning DNA, reproduction, etc, on a cellular level could some day help fight disease.

In animals, clones seem to be more susseptable to disease and die prematurely. This opens the question, "Why? What is different?" Obviously there is more to learn in this field.

Moral implications. Cloning in plants does not seem to be an issue.

Cloning in animals is tolorated. Animals have been used in laboratory experiments since the early days of science. If you can sacriface animals for food, why not justify doing so with knowledge.. It is still an arguable point either way.

Cloning on people hits much closer to home. Normal reproduction is rolling the dice. It is a chance that decides which genes will be used to make new life. It seems to have worked for the last few milion years. But cloning is a concious decision. If you knew that the out come would be to create a person that would live most its life in poor health and die, is it morally justified to do it just to see if you can? (This is complete cloning of an individual) If a diseased organ, Like a lung, kidney, etc could be cloned by taking a healthy cell from the host and growing it to form a new organ that would not be rejected in a transplant, then it seems that cloning of human tissue would have some merit.. If there was a way to clone skin, the recovery time of burn victims could be reduced tremendously.

Cloning and other bio-tech revolution should not lead us to a situation where a human being can be produced out of a test tube. That would be the beginning such atrocious inhuman activities like making men artificially to do your errand, fight your wars and do all sorts of unimaginable things. A separate clan of artificial men will be created who, if things go out of control may even try to dominate the other men. This will lead to further tension in the society and raise questions of morality. We must end this research forth with.

may be 'tis a curse. cloning can't make a real living being.it's just a copy.all rite, it will look same. but what about the mind?u can't clone it.and i've read in books and heard dat it'll cause genetic problems in the long run.more study and modification is needed b4 its actual use. don't even clone a cheetah.u might just make d situation worse.

It's a process. And it's a genii who has already left the bottle, thank you very much.
Cloning can be either blessing OR curse, depending on how it is used.
Like nuclear (that's "nyew-klee-ahr," George) energy, it can be either a boon to mankind or a doom; whichever "oo" we choose, really.
Personally, I think endless replacement parts (so long as they don't belong to another being) would be real nice. But slavery is bad, most people think.
A cultured limb to replace the one I lost would be fine. But growing a duplicate of myself for vanity or deceit or theft or slavery would not.
Sorry I can't be more decisive, here.

I don't think it is good to mess with mother nature too much. It will pay back. Not start to make designer babies or things like that.

I think it's both a blessing and a curse.

well actually it depends on us how we use it. We can use it to help is in making things which can be useful in near future but it can also be used to ignore the work given to us by makiing our clone do it.
