Well, considering that that the most popular GameCube memory card, the "memory card 59", has only 4 MB, which is equivalent to 59 GameCube "blocks", then the Wii would be able to hold about 7,680 GameCube "blocks", which in my opinion is a whole heck a lot of memory. It might not be fair to compare the Wii and Gamecube memory, though, as Wii games take up more memory for game saves. But trust me, I bet the most memory you ever needed for your GameCube saves was only 16 MB (251 "blocks"), so if you plan on only using that built-in Wii memory to hold game data ("saves"), then you already have more than enough memory for that, perhaps even enough room remaining for a few downloads. But if you plan on downloading many games off Virtual Console (those themselves should not take up too much memory, only the N64 games, but the rest; the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Turbo Grafx games, take up very little memory), or downloading lots of pictures, videos and such, then a 1GB (gigabyte) SD card should be sufficient.

From What I Hear, That's A Good Enough Memory To Start Off With..

If You Plan To Get Virtual Console Games (the downloadable nes, snes, 64, etc games), That Is Still Ok, The Memory For These Games Are Not Too Big If You Plan To Get A Hand Full..

My Advice: Don't Go On To Buy A Memory Card Just Yet.. The 512 MB Should Do Just Fine For General Game Saves And Downloads, Maybe For A Couple Months When You Have A Couple Games..

If You Plan To Do Many Downloads And Saves, Go Get A Memory Card.. They Are Not Too Expensive Now For Atleast A 1Gig.. If You Do Get A 1 Gig Now, However, You Probably Should Not Worry At All: That's Most Likely More Memory Than You Need..

I'm not sure, I haven't really paid attention to news about the memory. If you have a digital camera, you can just use a spare SD card if the flash memory runs out too fast.
