Alright, as a school sport, you run through a track, usually through some woods or something, and then you see who crosses the finish line first. It's usually a fall sport for both males and females, and you have to run long distances, like three miles. It's exhausting, but a lot of people do it for the other sports they take, like soccer, because it's useful to be able to run long distances and keep up your stamina.

At a cross country running meet you and your team run like three or four miles and the top ten runners in the boys varsity, girls varsity, girls junior varsity, and boys varsity get prizes. When I was in cross country running, the coach would have us run like 2 to 6 miles at practice.

Long distance running. I believe the main distance in high school is 5k or about 3.1 miles and in college I think they move up to 10k.
