These instructions are for non-apple (non-mac) computers.
To practice safety, switch off the electrical mains or the computer.
Do this before trying to join the camera's connection to the computer.
Match the rectangular end of the wire connected to the camera to a similar rectangle shape and size hole, that is found either on the front, side or rear of the computer.
Try rotating the end of the wire connected to the camera if it does not work at first.
Switch on the computer and the computer should be able to find the camera for you.
A question box will appear asking you if that is the product you would like to have.
With the mouse, click on yes if the computer prompts you; the computer does the rest.
If the camera came with a Compact Disk, place the compact disk into the disk drive.
The computer will ask you to enter details.
Follow the instructions and questions asked by the computer.
You will need to have computer programs like Skype (See source below), to allow another person on another computer, with the same program, Skype, to see you through your camera.
Assuming you are able to go onto the internet from which this person is able to ask this question, go to,
http://www.skype.com/
and use the mouse to click on "Download Skype".
When the computer asks if you would like to run the program, use the mouse to click "Yes".
Follow any instructions that Skype asks of you on the computer to have the program running in your computer.
You know you have Skype, by the indication of a blue icon on the lower right hand corner of the computer screen.
You can click twice on it to activate the program.
At this point, you should get a friend's Skype email address to put into it in order to use the program.

i would advice to get connected from some other person may be your friend or relatives because 10 yrs old child doesn't need to do such a work.
still if this is not possible for you then here are some tips
--pc turned off
-connect your webcam to the system(if it is usb then connect to usb port)
-start your system
-it will automatically detect your web cam if it is windows xp and ask for web cam drivers which must be present along with cd that comes along with your webcam.
-so insert that cd in the cd drivers
-if it is not automatically asking then click on the setup program in that cd
-Restart your computer
-your web cam is ready to use
