Yo can buy an automatic fish feeders. They aren't expensive (last time I checked, wal mart had them) and they work well. The dissolving fish feeders have a huge tendency to pollute water and I have never used them.

The only thing I would be more concerned about is that the water won't get changed in 2 weeks. If he gets fed too much the water will poison him. If you had a small bio filter in the tank it wouldn't have been a problem as it will clean the water. You really also need someone to change 50% of his water after 1 week.

I would seriously consider having someone to watch it. You can go buy a little Betta bowl for them to keep it in if your tank is not suitable for transporting. Your water will be filthy by the time you get back, and that is not safe for your fish. Not only that, I have had a lot of fish that are picky and don't like the food blocks. Your fish is used to eating what you have been giving him day to day, so I would stick with that, and have someone care for it while you are away.
Good Luck.

Fish don't have to be fed every day. The biggest mistake people make is asking friends to feed their fish every day while they are gone. They overfeed and kill the fish due to pollution (I have first hand knowledge of this).
If you have your friend or relative take care of your fish, just have them feed him every third day. Show them EXACTLY how much food to give him and ask them to change half the water at the end of the first week. Tell them not to change all of the water, that could end up killing him. Be sure to do another 50% water change as soon as you return. Then begin doing regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes to keep him healthy and happy.

DO NOT use vacation feeder blocks. More often than not they just dirty up the water. As long as your fish gets fed at least once every 3-4 days, they will be fine. He'll miss the attention more than the food.

I would clean the bowl well bfore you leave and leave the fish with someone in your family or ask your neighbor to feed it.
My sister had a beta in college and she used to bring it home with her on spring break.
The water would get pretty bad inbetween her changing and Thalo lived for almost 3 years.

You may be able to find a pet sitter in your community who can take care of the tank & fish while you're gone. Call around to your local vet offices & see if there is anyone willing to do that. Or perhaps the vet will do it.'

What you can do is buy a pack of food blocks and put about 2 in there. that way, when they are hungry they can just swim to the Bottom and just nibble on it when they are hungry! Simple! My grandad did this before he died. Good Idea hey!
