Hmm, about performing or just musicals? Raise your voice has a lot of unintentional laughs in it and it's about Hilary Duff getting the courage to perform, the producers was pretty recent and funny, and you can watch Turner Classic Movies for all the musicals you want. Go to tcm.com to try seeing when they're showing musicals. They used to make a lot more musicals than they make nowadays.

not sure if it's what you have in mind but i love this movie called Billy Elliot. it's more of a drama but i know the film was later on turned into a musical. it tells the story of this boy who wanted to become a ballet dancer but his macho coal miner father who 's a big boxing fan wanted him to become a boxer instead. finally, seeing his son is so talented, the father relented but the family had to make a big sacrifice so billy could go to ballet school. billy did perform at the end of the movie but it only lasted for about well, 5 seconds, but it's one truly remarkable film and a definite must-see.
