I can add @ for at, and bike for bicycle, but if there are abbreviations for the others I'd be fascinated to know. I can't even think why you would need an abbreviation for a one-syllable word like train anyway. Are these supposed to be used in general contexts?
If symbols are not permitted (technically they can be abbreviations: see Oxford English Dictionary and Thesaurus) then how on earth would you abbreviate "at"?
Abbreviations also come in the form of removing letters and adding a full stop (or period if you're American), so you might see: tr. for train, num. for numeracy.

about = ab't
plymouth = ply'th
at = @
bicycle = bike
swimming = swmng
train = tr'n
numeracy = nmrcy
ice-cream = ice crm
These are made up abbreviations by the way - mostly done by removing vowels.

~,# and @ are symbols, not abbreviations.
I don't think this is what the teacher wants (but I don't know what he or she wants).
For me, there are but three words in this list that have an abbrvtn. Plymouth should be Plymth., about becomes 'bout and bicycle bike.
