i am guessing you are having a problem with your ps2 connection for your keyboard
well a troubleshooter for keyboards are these
1...unresponsive keyboard....check all the keys for any foreign object.....this can cause the keyboard to be undetectable at start-up and can actually stop windows from booting up
2...ps2 plug wont fit......this can be caused by years of pushing and pulling the lead in and out of the socket.......keyboards very rarely malfunction, its the ps2(round socket) that can become damaged, one way round this is to get a ps2 to u.s.b converter(around £1-99 from pc-world) and this will allow you to use your existing mouse in a usb socket
3 using a low wattage vaccum cleaner with a thin nose attachment ...vaccum between all the keys and underneath your mouse,if you clean these(keyboard and mouse ) you can save hours of lost work in the future
4...check the ps2 sockets with a torch and magnifying glass and check for any dirt or foreign bodies in the socket,a make up brush is good for cleaning these out
if you want to send me a more detailed question i would be happy to answer anything for you
good luck

Did you seat the cable plugs correctly? If not, you may have bent the pins. They will not work then. Not all keyboard cable plugs fit all PC some need an adapter and if you force them, well. the pins can break.
