ZIDANE.....but i think zizou's "playmaking" skills go beyond the pitch. # 1, his mere presence seem to inspire his team mates and they're able to play more confidently. you sorta see this bec. they tend to play bad, even lose games, when zizou is not around. #2, ever noticed how the french players react when zizou gets the ball? part of it is strategy but sometimes the combination of movement is almost instinctive. it's like everyone comes alive to receive the ball from him. pretty uncanny and the hardest to explain but you sorta sense there's that mental effect on the players and it's happening for real. anyway, enuff, i'm sure you get the picture. LOL

well the best play maker according to me - is david trezequet / t henry / ronaldhino / david beckham. - was - pele/zidane/maradona
and if you talk about up coming ones - kaka ,messi, ribery, robinho, c. ronaldo

btw - there are also others like buffon , cannavaro , matterazzi and lots more.

but my favorite by far, was Zidane.
I agree with lady_chate. He had that presence that just brought up any match. His skills and techniques, everything is just wonderful. Great playmaker overall. i miss seeing him play =[

For me was Roberto Baggio...is Cannavaro and Buffon!!
BTW: I think the whole Italian team is great for one exception(Camoranesi)...but I just mentioned a few of my favourites.
