Unless you are Military or a Military Spouse, you have no business knowing the answer to this. And, if you ARE Military, you know WHERE to go for the answer instead of asking here on yahoo answers....

Its not only marines. but they dont have any other military's units there if that makes any sense. it is mostly marines but they have some navy, and air force attached to the camp for support, and other things. the army is in an area around there (cant really say)but when we do patrols and stuff sometimes we stop by fallujah for food, a place to crash, etc. for the most part tho yes its mostly marines. If it helps any it's a relitvely safe area also. it's been worse in the past but lately its been quiet.

What do you want to know? I am here in Iraq, been to Fallujah, Tikrit, Al Asad, Baghdad and am now in Al Qa'im.
If you are looking to work in Fallujah area I can tell you that although it has quieted down considerably it still is a pretty hot area.

It's joint service, as you know we don't go anywhere without our Docs nearby so there are corpsman aplenty, the army is there too, as well as some Brits. The AO is run by RCT 5 and while it is one of the bigger bases, the biggest one I'd been to was Al asad. The rainy season is starting to end right now, so he's probably still getting soaked. As far as temps go it's warmer than the states but still ok for now but it starts getting unbearable around mid April . You know what he'd probably enjoy getting is stuff to help pass the downtime, like an MP3 player, PSP or some other handheld game system ( They sell games at the px). Don't worry about magazines because you can pretty much get everything (except playboy etc.) at the px. Some newspapers from home might be cool though, just to have something like the Chicago Tribune in hand made it feel like I was that much closer to home. Other things that help are skivvie shirts and drawers, for whatever reason they couldn't keep them in stock there. You can both apply for phone cards thru the VFW website, but be advised AT&T robs you of your minutes bigtime, so he's better off doing the SPAWAR phones at the MWR (it's like vonage, he'd have to register on the computers at the mwr with a credit card first though.) If they haven't moved it, he can get a custom made suit at the Turk shop by the chow hall and pick up entire seasons of shows for like $20 or less if he can haggle. They have "cans" (trailers) as well as hardened billeting, but as far as I can tell you it was crowded because we slept six to a room, 3 on duty 3 off duty. The racks all sucked because they little kid beds that kept on breaking. Other than all that the only thing I looked forward to was being in the wire for chow on a Sunday because that was steak and lobster day. It wasn't good steak and lobster, but it was steak and lobster. While he's there can you ask him to do me a favor and see if these two terps (inerpreters) are still there? They were stand up guys who've received cercomms from us for stuff that would've gotten Bronze Stars at a minimum. The names we gave them were "Mario" and "Mad Max". If he can do that it'd be cool because even though I tossed my name in the hat to mob out with 4th Recon I was denied because they were over TO. They taught me a lot and it helped when I had to play as terp. Thanks and I keep you and all my brother Marines and their families in my prayers.
