There are lower than average number of elected men with facial hair then there are men in general who have facial hair. Why is facial hair feared at the polls?
What is our general feeling about men with facial hair? They have something to hide?

I believe that clean shaven politicians are clearly more esthetically pleasing, and may give a more youthful appearance, as compared to a man with profuse facial hair. I like that theory that maybe subconsciously we perceive it as them hiding behind something, good question!

Evil people wear facial hair (Stalin, Hitler, Lenin)
Of course, smooth-shaven people aren't demonstrable better

I think it has something to do with an image of youth, although why we would want young inexperienced men as leaders I dont know.
