I read that even if you have a normal period every month it doesnt mean that you have actually ovulated that month. Trying to conceive and thought every month had a possibility!

It is very possible that you don't ovulate every month or even at all. But you can still have what appears to be a period. This is because as your body keeps trying to release an egg your uterus lining becomes thicker and eventually this will just come out as a period. Although it is not a true period as you haven't actually ovulated. Charting you temperatures can let you know if you have ovulated.

Getting a period does not mean that you ovulated. Many women, including myself have anovulatory cycles where they sometimes do not ovulate. In my case this is caused by PCOS. If you do not ovulate every month then your doctor will prescribe you Clomid or metformin , which regulate your cycle and cause you to ovulate every month. There are a few blood tests that can be done to check if you are ovulating. Ask to be reffered to an endronologist, and in the meantime use ovulation sticks and chart your cycle. Clomid worked for me on my first cycle and I am now pregnant. Good luck PS ovulation tests are not totally reliable because they olny tell you that the body is gearing up to ovulate, not that you HAVE ovulated and sometimes your body will get ready to release an egg and then the process will stop or be delayed. The best tests are ones done by the hospital such as progesterone.

No, you might not ovulate every month. This is especially true if you are just coming off birth control pills, etc...Also, if you are very stressed out it can put off your ovulation. You might not ovulate on the same day each month. I recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler (www.tcoyf.com). It is a very enlightening book. Also, there is a software that goes along with it so you can track your ovulation and get a better idea of when to have sex for conception during your cycle. The software even has a little planner for this purpose.

Medical fact - the female body has a period 14 days after ovulation. If you don't ovulate you do not have a period.

I have had a lot of experience with fertility issues the ovulation kits are a waste of money. A simple blood test from your doctor will tell the quality of your eggs and how many you have left.

Most females do ovulate every month. Only a low percentage do not. You are right to believe that you are ovulating every month.

if you want to know if you are ovulating everything month and when you can get an ovulation tester from first response. The same company that has the pregnancy test kit you can test earlier.

This will help answer your personal questions on if YOU are ovulating and when to give you an edge on when is best to be trying!
Good luck!

Its not uncommon for your body to skip an ovulation, although in most cases its designed to ovulate within every cycle. It would only skip if you're stressed, sick, malnurished, of some other reason like that.

Chances are you are ovulating just fine, if you really want to know how you're doing go on ebay and buy fifty or a hundred oculation strips from a medical whole saler. Theyre about 25 bucks and work like a charm. You can pee on one stick a day for a couple cycles, see how you're doing.
