Im stuck on 2 questions on my maths homework and wonderd if anybody on here would be so kind and help me
ok q1)
y is proprtional to the cube of x find the ratio of the values of x when
y= 8 and when y=15.625 write the ratio in the simplest form
now for q2)

Cheating on your maths homework! How could you!

OK, Q1.
y is proportional to the cube of x, i.e. y = kx^3 (where k is a constant).
When y = 8,
8 = k x^3, take cube roots of both sides...
2 = j x, therefore x = 2/j (where j is another constant).

When y = 15.625,
15.625 = k x^3
2.5 = j x, therefore x = 2.5/j.

The ratio of these values is
(2.5 / j) / (2 / j), or

(2.5 / j) x (j / 2). Cancel the j's gives 2.5 / 2 = 1.25 = 5/4.

Now you know how to do the first one, you can do the second one yourself! Good luck.

PS maths is spelt correctly.

q1)
y = kx^3
When y=8, 8=kr^3 -----------(1)
When y=15.625, 15.625=ks^3 -----------(2)

So (1)/(2)
=> (8/15.625)=(r/s)^3
=> (2/2.5)=(r/s)
=> r/s=20/25 = 4/5

q2)
y=kSQRTx
When x=0.25, p=kSQRT(0.25) = 0.5k ------(1)
When x=4, q=kSQRT(4) = 2k -------(2)

So (1)/(2)
=> p/q = 0.5k/2k = 0.5/2 = 1/4
