You may know the word of Manga. Manga is origianlly Japanese word and we Koreans call them Manwha.
However it is called, Manga(or Manwha)'s market is big Japan and Korea, but not still in America.

The question is that I haven't found the very appropriate word for Manga. My dictionary shows some words like comic books, funnies, etc. But the stories of Mangas are not always comic or funny. And another probable word is animation but it reminds me of the moves while Mangas are books.
What would be the best replacing world for Manga in English?

Manga has already been kidnapped by the English language, there is no reason to make a new word to replace it. It simply denotes a comic book with a certain type of artwork derived from the Japanese.

Comic books in America range from funny to depressing and from religious to pornographic. If we aren't looking for a new work to replace them then why would we want a new one to replace Manga?

Actually, manga is very popular in the US with titles like Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist making bestsellers lists.

In Japanese manga refers to any sort of sequential art. In America we call collected editions of Japanese comics 'manga'

Comics does not nessesairily mean funny. Many American comic books are quite serious. But, if you don't like that term try 'sequential art'.

Comic books will work. Although comic literally means funny, "comic books" has evolved to include all types of frame by frame with balloon captions illustrated paper booklets from Micky Mouse to the Super Heros.
