Most hampsters don't even consume what you give in their bowl on a dialy basis. Nor do they put much of a dent in their water. I work at a pet store and all of our animals are left alone on the weekend. Make sure you give it a clean cage before you go, and a nice bowl of fresh food and water. As for the one who asked you if you would leave a child alone for a weekend, it is a hampster not a child. A hampster is capable of staying alone as long as you provide enough food and water. A child can not. Your hampster will be just fine. I have owned them all my life, and currently have 9 cats, 3 dog, 2 rats, 2 turtles, a rabbit, fish, and an iguana. I am well aware of how to care for animals, as I own plenty and work with them. Anyone who said you can not, doesn't know what they are talking about. Go have fun for the weekend and don't worry about your hampster.

In the answer to that question: YES! But so long as you do the following things first:
1.) make sure the cage is secure, no chance of escapes as hamsters are good at that!
2.) Plenty of food, dont be afraid to give extra!
3.) Top up water bottle just before you leave the house, (dont be afraid to use 2 if worried).
4.) Clean or cleanish cage, even hamsters dont like living in dirt
5.) Give chews or wood to chew, so prevent bordom
6.) last but not least dont worry!

Yes, just make sure that you leave plenty of food and make sure the water bottle is full of water. I have left my hamster for three days and he was fine. Mine is a Syrian which is on the big side so a large hamster feeding bowl was good.

Yes. Clean out their cage, put in fresh bedding, and fill their foodbowl with fresh food, and their water bottle with fresh water. Be sure to spend extra time with them before leaving, so that you can make up for the time that they didn't see you. You can leave a fresh grape, or other piece of fresh food as a good-bye treat. Just be sure that the cage is secure, so that you don't come home to an escaped hamster, and that it won't be in the middle of any drafts, or in direct sunlight. You can leave the lights on, but dimly. I guess that you can leave the lights off, too, but it might get dark/lonely for your hamster.

Yes. I have done it before with all my hamsters. Give them plenty of food and a full bottle of water. But any longer then 2 days you should get someone to check on/look after them.

why would you leave a hamster alone all weekend? would you leave a child alone all weekend?

How would you know if the hamster had run out of food or water if no one went into check on the hamster? It would be ok if someone went in every 24hours to check but otherwise NO

As long as you leave the cage open so it can go for a wonder around the house to stretch its legs. Make sure you let the neighbours cat in to keep it company too.

Yes you can, hamsters pouch their food and keep it safe in their houses for a rainy day. S/he'll be fine as long as you give him/her sufficient amount of water and food.

Not really.

They'll invite their freinds over and drink all your liquor and leave pizza boxes and pizza crusts strewn hither and thither and your grand piano will end up in the middle of the street and the carpets will be trashed and then, they'll deny the whole thing ever happened
