A lot of people don't understand that gaining weight isn't always about lack of effort - the months of planning for that wedding is ridiculous - LOSING weight to look good for guests and honeymoon, pleasing both sides of family, the honeymoon itself usually involves a lot of eating and drinking and so forth.

Typically people plan for a wedding 1 year in advance so after the honeymoon - its the real honeymoon of relaxing. If you notice, a year after a wedding is usually when a couple/persons will try to start picking back up again with looking good, losing weight, etc... because you begin to start focusing on what to do for you.

The first year of marriage is rough because you are doing everything to keep you relationship happy - going on dates, possibly having a baby, and so on. People begin to realize that they have to keep achieving their goals and dreams. Actually in many marriages, some people end up looking better than they did before they even got married.

This is NOT to say that there are plenty of marriages where people gain weight and stay that way and get somewhat lazy and that just means that people have a low self-confidence and esteem about themselves. Losing weight is not about pleasing your spouse, but an appreciation for your own body, health, and future.

But all marriages should remember that support and working as a team goes a long way. So if one person is trying to better themselves in career, looks, weight, etc... they can go much further with support from their spouse rather than arguments about how bad that person looks.

That is not always true but in some cases it is. Some women gain weight because they are not starving themselves anymore to fine a man to love them. Some men gain weight because they are actually eating home cooked meals and not like a bachelor.

Because of happiness! Strange I know, but true! I had been very thin all my life, had a 6 yr. courtship with this guy, we got married and within a two month period I had gained 35 lbs.!! It was unreal! Course I only weighed 100 lbs. at 5'9" so I could afford it.

When someone gets married then the effort of looking good fly out of the window.

People get comfortable and dont realize that letting your self go is like letting your marriage go.

So many women and men let themselves go after marriage and its sad because we carry our body for the rest of our lives and not to mention what a turn off for your partner.

Newlyweds are usually trying to please each other with new things. They learn to cook together and the wife wants to make all these fabulous meals. They have registered for top of the line stuff and most people get it. They have all the gadgets they need for the great food they want to make. Plus, they are happy and no longer have to look for someone else. However, I don't think that people stop caring about their appearances. I just don't think they realize what's going on.

if you look at what happens when people marry then you will see that you take two busy independant people and put them in the same house and society places all these expectations on them, he has to be home with the mrs not out with his mates skylarkig around, she should be home makin house not out with her friends...

societies' expectations of married people force them into more sedentary lifestyles.

not only that but you have two people, who for the fist couple of years are living in a state of bliss, just enjoying being together and no longer needing to stress out about finding a mate.

They are no longer trolling for a partner and don't feel as much pressure to maintain appearances. This can be good or bad. Good if there is love. Bad if people get complacent and intimacy goes away.
