yes the UK should. if a man/woman works hard to make all their money, and they end up marrying somebody that is only after money, they should be able to have something to stop these people from taking half or more of their money away. anybody that is really in love with you will sign a prenup. no problem. but if they are only after your money, the prenup. stops them dead in their tracks lol.

A pre nup is a good idea as it protects the higher earner in the relationship although marriage should be a lifetime committment (i know this isnt the case all the time) and everything should be shared equally. It is generally your own opinion and if you think the marriage will be strong enough to last a lifetime. One thing is certain though no matter how well you think you know your partner - their true side comes out in divorce. Maybe a pre nup would be wise to protect your assets.

Personally I do believe all marriages should come with a contract stipulating just what is hers and his and how things should handled. It will not be an easy thing to set in law and will take some real thinking.
Too many lives get messed up when a marriage foes sour. It is too easy to marry.

The thing about pre nups is that to me anyway that implys a certain lack of trust between the 2 partners but on the other hand there are a lot of gold diggers out there.

I dont think the U.K should make pre nups legaly binding as the institution of marriage is bashed enough without losing even more of its romance.

Yes. Too often one partner ends up suffereing unfairly if a marrage ends if one person is better off financially then they need to feel their contribution to the relationship is preserved, should anything go wrong. Making them a requirement would prevent aguments that are created when one partner asks for a prenupt.

A superb idea. started a relationship several years ago. Everything was perfect. We started a business together and I put more in than him but hey we were going to last forever. Luckily instincts told me to get a legal document because now we are separating and he said he was going to fight me for half till I reminded him of this wonderful piece of paper! God bless solicitors!

think it should be up to the individuals... i mean why marry someone that u cant even trust in the first place?? pre nups are for people that have it all and scared to lose face when the divorce goes through! if it gonna happen it gonna happen!

Good if you have load of dosh and have shot-gun marriages. Bad because it basically says "I don't trust you" but let's get a reservation "Let's get married" card so that I can hang on to you a while longer.

With divorce rates as high as they are....you'd be stupid not to get a prenup. Hopefully you'll never have to use it but consider it like an insurance policy.
