You can approach this problem by trial and error method. By doing it that way, the answer is 5 seconds.
1. Phonekom charges 40 cents plus three cents for every second
Therefore, for 5 seconds, 40 + 5(3) = 55
2. communico charges 50 cents plus one cent for every second
Therefore, for 5 seconds, 50 + 5(1) = 55.
Answer : 5 seconds.

The cost will be the same when the time in seconds used is
equal to 5 times the number of calls made..
For example, if you make 1 call on each phone, and stay on the
line 5 seconds, the cost will be the same.
But there can be a series of answers if you allow different numbers of calls and widely different connect times.

The charge will be the same when
40 + 3t = 50 + t So
2t = 10
t = 5
So..... If your phone calls are mostly under 5 seconds, Phonekom is the way to go. But if they're mostly over 5 seconds, Communico is a far better deal âº
