how much work did you do?
I'm wondering how many extra-curricular activities I can afford to sign up for without damaging my grades.
Is it really that much more hectic than second year?

My last year in uni was hell on earth. No jokes! In short, hell gates were opened loose.

Why? because the final year is the boundary between undergraduates and postgraduates, so the university wants you to be on the edge of your chosen specialism. So its tough work and must NOT be underestimated at all.

You could do other activities, but you must keep up to date on your work, because if it builds up, the dam will over flood and will cause a disaster.

well, i am about to start my final year tommorow, though i'm sure there is a lot more work for me to contend with. i have 7 modules to do- 3 in the first semester and 4 in the second. the extra one is because i didn't do the 2nd year module. i'll be busy studying and so i won't be having a lot of time to rest. though i will take a little break during the Xmas period. i've heard from my lecturers and mates who are studying on the same course as me how intensive the final year is. i mean, the first year was about showing you the ropes and it was rather straightforward. plus, your first year marks don't really count towards your final mark. the second year is about building you up for the final year and getting you prepared for what lies ahead. especially when you get to write your dissertation.

am i worried abot the final year, you'd ask? well, as long as i focus on what i have to do, step up a gear or two and work to my academic strengths, i should have no problems. at the same time however, i will try not to get overconfident or become complacent. the final year is so important that i for one cannot afford to mess this up. i have to give it everything i've got- and i'd advise you to do the same as well. focus, study hard and well and remember to give it your all.

good luck!

Actually it is more hectic if you have a dissertation to write as well as lectures and exams to do. The workload can be horrendous if you don't keep up with it

I know, I graduated in July.
