could anyone tell me a good and cheap external hardrive to buy there are 4 people who all use the computer and all have ipods and this is taking up a lot of memory this is why i am looking an external hardrive also are they easy to install and use

I got a Philips 160 GB for £90 from Curry's. It had a built-in fan for additional cooling.
They are straight forward to use. The drive is detected as an additional drive.

We bought Maxtor 300GB external drives for around $150 each. We have them hooked to our laotops. We use them for i-Tunes and pictures. They work real well. We got them at Staples. I hope this helps.
