No u can do it yourself, just get it witnessed by two reliable people, wills are usually only contested if there are assetts involved, if u have considerable assets then it may pay to have a professional do it, otherwise u can do it urself
There are certain legal things that u might no be aware of however, such as the rights of illegitimate/step children etc
so if u think this affects u
get a copy of a legal will kit (can be bought as most reputable newsagents) just so u dotn leave a loophole allowing people to challenge ur wishes

you don't need a lawyer to make a will, you can simply get a will making kit from the post office or WH Smith. the advantage however of instructing a lawyer is you can elect independent executors and receive specialist legal advice as to inheritance tax and other matters which require careful consideration. Most law firms will also store the will for you ensuring that it is easily retrieved at the appropriate time. given all that it may not be as expensive as you may first have thought. you will be able to find local specialist probate firms on the Law Society website.

I had a judge do mine, and I asked him if it was bullet proof, he just laugh at me and said nothing is bullet proof. So after you are gone who is going to do what you wish, or are they going to do what they want. So save your money and get the kit from any office supply. It doesn't have to be recorded, just make sure there is a copy for the person that will be in charge. PS if you don't have the money for a lawyer you probably don't have enough to fight over anyway

There are web sites on Google which will help but if you have a number of bequests/wishes it would be advisable to see a lawyer.

No. You can do this yourself, but a lawyer will ensure you keep in line with legislation. You can buy kits from bookstores to do it yourself.
