The USA we want?
Can the USA continue if respect for your political opponents does not exist, and is replaced by a visceral hatred and loathing?
If not, how can this be changed?

No, unless we are hit hard by an outside force that will finally and irrevocably pull us together as a whole nation, we will keep this up until we have full blow sectarian violence on our own streets. The only alternative is that one man/woman from either party can set a high standard that we can all respect and pull us out of the polarized partisan quagmire.

As long as you don't try to cram your views down my throat, or insult or threaten me for my views, I think a good, healthy debate of the issues is great. I like to know what the "other side" thinks, and, if they have a strong enough proof, I have even changed sides. Most of the time, though, all they have is emotional appeals. For example, someone came to my house about a month ago with a petition to send to Congress about providing health care to everyone. It's a great idea, but they were not able to tell me how it would be paid for. "We don't have a plan. We want the lawmakers to come up with a plan". I refused to sign the petition because they had no details. All it does is appeal to the emotions of the people signing it, but doesn't solve anything.

As long as there is freedom of speech, you can express your beliefs. That same freedom of speech protects the opposing side's right to insult or threaten your beliefs. I guess that is the USA we want.Unfortunately, morals and consideration is what would normally regulate the hate and loathing speech, but we all know that both barely exist anymore. I'm sorry, but those two things can't be legislated

when in politics a matter of honest political veiw is an oxyoron ,
i am in no way trying to insult the question or belittle it .
I'm simply saying that an honest veiw in politics often refers to whom the politician is talking to and at which fund raiser he is attending when he opens his mouth.
The true perpose of the debates is to create a division among the voters not to unify them and confuse them from the true american dream of living free in a land that is not controled by the government, were the governments sole purpose is to protect that way of life not dictate how that way of life is to be lived.
the USA we were creating at its inseption is not the USA of today unfortunately we have empowered our government for so long in its ability to slowly restrict the way we live and never hold the government accountable when we know in our hearts they are lieing to use and it started in wwII because that is when the government realized that the people would support it as long as it believed for the moment that it was trying to protect it from something or some evil that was looming on the horizon .
in regaurds to respect of political opponents for each other well that would indicate that they were truely working in the same direction how ever if there is a direct contrase in how the government should be run and what the purpose of the government is then respect is trown out the window and any chance of freedom being represented is lost.
well in order to change the pressent situation is to have all the facts made public and by that I mean with out political spin by either side of the isle just the true accounts of the current status
of the government in all of its aspects including those deamed classified.
by the very deffinition classified is a means to decieve the public so that the government can make decisions and pass laws that
would not be acepted by the majority of the american public .
the true strength of any nation is its people and if we believe that then it does not matter what our enemies know for we will be united and the old saying goes "united we stand ,divided we fall"
the media is apart of the machine and even though it is protected and its the only business that is protected in the constitution with its own amendment freedom of speech and free press.
however the government has used fear to manipulate the public into believing that there should be somethings that should be kept secret from the citizens in order to protect it from would be enemies and that is were the coruption started for there is the space that wich coruption breeds greed and greed can be manipulated along with the coruption that is evident and controled by those who use it for their own gain wether in the private sector or in public office .
what can be gained from making the government public knowledge they will loose there ability to manipulate situations that will otherwise take away your liberties that were so hard won .in reguards of our enemies having access to or most intimate secrets means that they can not manipulate those who hold them .the only thing we need to fear is fear its self if you think about that for a moment you will understand that fear is a tool in which the government uses to hide its agenda which currently seams to be war and war that is not waged on any country but a war against an orginization whose purpose is to disrupt the freedoms we enjoy .well i could go on and on and on lol but I gotta go . in short vote and vote for a change if a change is what you believe we need for that is were your true power lies.

i've got consistently stumbled on Anarcho-Communism - a minimum of in its wordage - an oxymoron. As an ideology it is valid, albeit somewhat idealistic in my humble opinion. i'm what human beings might call a liberal and what Europeans might call a social democrat. I help a blended economic gadget yet a super government in know to economic - not social - affairs, so as that for the time of cases of economic disaster - like now - the government can doubtlessly steer the economic gadget into restoration. you may ask why we are actually not since, and that's because of the fact regardless of the government's skill in doing this, it would not, specifically because of the fact of blind faith in a faux concept.

Hatred and loathing are perfectly legal.

But if you're threatened with violence or abuse it's illegal and you should call the law.

Best wishes,

pup
