Sometimes I see a bird or few of them fly really low and circling around in one spot? My husband say it something about the thermal? I don't get it.. could someone explain this behaviour?

I saw 2 of them just circling around in the middle of an intersection...it's clearly nothing on the ground.. very weird.

I would have to ask as well, what kind of birds are they if you know? More then likely they are a crow, or perhaps a vulture of some sort, or a hawk? They are probably scoping out some road kill, or some other type of food that has been located around that location. More then likely they are some type of Bird of Prey? They will normally circle above some type of food source they have located until diving and snatching it up, or landing and eating time.
