The meaning of happiness is going to be an individually based concept. While there will be many simularities no two definitions will be the same. As to setting an achieving goals, Great way to stay on track. But I wonder if the young people have the attention span required for such activities.

Happiness is getting excited when you think about something. Happiness is looking forward to seeing someone you love. Happiness is laughing and joking with your friends and family. Happiness is doing the hobbies you love. That is the meaning of happiness, it has no real definition, it is different for everyone. Everyone will feel happy sometimes and everyone will feel down sometimes but if you have someone who gives you that feeling above your stomach right below your rib cage that just makes you feel good, that is true happiness.

Try this.. Happiness is a state of mind, when the situation resembles or meets the desire.
Happiness is just that what a person desires, is actually happening.
How it happens , depends on situation.. with or without money..
And this happiness is not necessarily dependent on just one desire. When there are multiple, conflicting desires, then nothing can bring happiness.
If a person desires/decides to remain in a state of deep acceptance of what is happening, then happiness floods into him !

For me happiness is the freedom to do whatever you would like to do while you are guilt free (which doesn't hurt another person) and your abilities to do this is not hindered by social or economic reasons....
Despite that the hinderences sometimes happiness can be found anyway regardless.. in which case, it seems to be a matter of having total utter belief in yourself that you are good enough to deserve what you want...
So happiness for me is a healthy self esteem.

Hmmm...I like to make other people happy. That makes ME happy. I love helping others, doing for others, my friends, family, children and even strangers. Nothing like seeing a smile on someones face to make you feel good.
That is for the spirit and the good Lord as well.

I see happiness as temporary. It depends on the current situation. Your definition "HEADING IN THE DIRECTION I WANT TO GO IN" is more applicable to joy. Joy is that inner confident position that you retain while you face any situation. Besides, it's one of the fruits of the spirit.

happiness is enriched contentment.
an ex-girlfriend used to call me and ask me if I was happy. since she was not she wanted to know what she was missing. i told her if she wanted to know the truth about me, she would have to come visit me, and see what makes me happy. she demanded i tell her over the phone. i refused and said, "if you want to know, you have to come see me." a surprise visit from her would have made me happy, and this simple act would have answered her question.
i told her that she needed to do what she loved most, and that would make her happy. the thing that used to make me happy was stopping by to visit her unannounced with a surprise gift, a hug or a love letter. she in turn lit up like a Christmas tree... she was truly happy to see me visit, and for that i was truly happy.
when you do something with the whole of your heart, that is happiness.
