She obviously has sensitive skin. And the solution is just as obvious - don't shave! A nice bush is a whole lot better than a bald spot with zits! Waxing is very painful, expensive, and you have to let a stranger work on your PRIVATE parts. And she might get a huge sore area since her skin is so delicate. Natural is best!

She should use a new razor every time she shaves and shave WITH the grain of the hair. Go over the spot as few times as possible. IT won't get the shave as close to the skin, but she won't get as much shave bumps and itrritation. There is a product called Bikini Zone sold at most drug stores by the shaving needs stuff (and at Walmart & such) that helps with bumps and irritation. Exfoliate in the shower the next few days with a gentle exfoliating scrub to help keep the skin from healing over the hair follicle. If she gets any really bad ones, put a warm washcloth over the area a few times a day to help draw the hair out. Try not to pick.

Another option would be waxing. A bit painful, but it lasts a lot longer. It is less likely to cause irritation and ingrown hair too. She could also try shaving in the direction of hair growth and then hand plucking (with good tweezers like Revlon Stainless Steel ones) the stubble. It is very time consuming, but I do it and notice ver little ingrown hairs and irritation. She won't be able to do the lips though, they are too sensitive of an area. She'll just have to shave that part still.

Trim first. Use a very high grade of lubricant, not just the cheapest shave cream. Use a new razor and again, a good quality razor. Moisturize afterward. There may always be a little "itch" as the hair grows back. He other choice is a full wax, a Brazilian wax that will remove it for her. That might be worth the investment because she will be smoother for longer.

your friend eh??

Hmmm well she would better off to wax. . slightly uncomfortable but very effective and long lasting!
Or get a bikini trimmer (cant be purchsed in a chemist or somewhere like Argos if in the UK).
This will allow her to cut the hair down very short and dosnt leave the skin inflamed.
The little red pimples as you describe are where the hair is growing again trying to get through. Using a nail brush to massage the area can help to reduce this but not to be too vigerous as if done too hard can make the area sore.

if you're getting waiting for a "special occasion", i'd recommend you shave a minimum of three days earlier. follow a pair after shave lotion for the pubic section to reduce the itching and occurrence of pubic zits. in case you do not have adequate time, only take a pair of scissors and trim them.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.

Those bumps are ingrowns and tend to get worse with food sensitivities though they aren't caused by them. The best method would be electrolosis or laser, if it's that important to her.
