Since you've posted in Theatre, I choose to assume you're asking about the play by Anna Cora Mowatt entitled "Fashion."
It is a five-act satirical look at the "high life" in New York in the mid-19th century. It was the first play by an American woman to achieve great success.
Heavily influenced by Beaumarchais (sentimentality) and Sheridan (as Edgar Allan Poe noted in his review of the play), it
maintains a tone of high comedy throughout. It also has acheived the distinction of being the only American play written before 1850 to have two professional revivals in New York (1924 and 1959).

Fashion is a form of free speech. It not only embraces clothing, but also accessories, jewellery, hairstyles, beauty and body art. What we wear and how and when we wear it, provides others with a shorthand to subtly read the surface of a social situation.

they change trends every season on purpose in order to make you spend your money again and again, even if your closet is full of good things: if you don't buy fresh clothing, you'll look old-fashioned.
so, fashion is an imperative of famous tailors appealing to our ambitions;)

fashion according to me is anything u carry confidently.
its not blindly following all the fashion trends bt it is the sense of wat is looking good on u,wat suits ur personality.
