Introduction
Microbiology is the study of microbes which includes algae, bacteria, moulds, protozoa, viruses and yeasts. They affect health, food, agriculture and industrial development.

Nature of work
Microbiologists study the relationship between microbes and men, animals and plants.

Different fields in Microbiology
a) MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGIST: Medical microbiologists study the role of micro organisms in human and animal diseases and seek ways to prevent and cure these diseases.
b). AGRICULTURE MICROBIOLOGIST: Agriculture microbiologists study plant diseases, role of micro organisms in soil fertility and spoilage of farm product by micro organisms.
c). INDUSTRIAL MICROBIOLOGIST: Industrial microbiologists use micro organisms to produce products as alcoholic beverages, amino acids, antibiotic, citric acid and vitamin c.
d).GENERAL MICROBIOLOGIST: They study the basic features of micro organism including ecology, genetics, metabolism, psychology and structure.
