it sounds like a thermo coupling problem i would check it again the other thing it could be is the gas pressure it should be 19 to 21 mil bar

A CORGI registered engineer is your best answer - they know their job and are extremely efficient (and should be the only people you allow to touch your gas boiler). It's probably a blockage in the supply pipe - but I'm no expert. The Engineer on the other hand will probably sort it out for you, or at least authoritatively tell you the problem within minutes. Ring Corgi to find the nearest registered engineer. Corgi are extremely helpful.

Is the pilot light flame big enough and does the thermocouple tip glow cherry red? Is the gas pressure high enough? Could be that when the main gas valve opens that it drops the pressure to the pilot gas, causing the thermocouple to cool enough to trip the valve.

The silicon sounds to me like a contender for the problem , every flame needs a supply of air to burn , or check the flue is clear , were just passed bird nest season but overall if you cant see that its broken get a gas tech in , Gas is the one that makes a bigger bang than petrol

Call a qualified gas engineer, don't even open the thing (except the panel to the controls, obviously). It's illegal and very dangerous to tamper with such things.
I've seen a similar problem, in the end it was cheaper to just buy a new boiler.

Try changing thermo couple again. We got one for our boiler and we had the same problem as you, we changed the thermo couple again for another one and it worked. There's been some dodgy one's about lately
