They cannot pass wind because their body does not have the bacteria that produces methane as a cow or other animals do.
In other words they do not fart. They are trying to discover the gene that allows them to eat grass and digest it without these bacteria so that they can genetically engineer a cow that will not harm the ozone layer.

If it is a kangaroo bodily function, it can do them all as long as it is healthy.
If you talk about human or other animals, you compare apples and oranges, making no sense
