I agree with whoever said it's the best sci fi film ever.
The way Ridley Scott portrays LA in the future is awesome. Dark atmosphere, dripping water everywhere and a mixture of old structures with new technologies. That sort of new ethnic group formed with Asians, Latins, Blacks and Caucasians. Simply masterful. And the script. Take a loook at this:

"I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die. "

A few years ago, I wrote a short novel depicting my home town in the future (Caracas, I'm from Venezuela). After reading it, someone told me "You took it right out of Blade Runner". I hadn't noticed it but, yes he was right. I had been influenced by that movie without consciously noticing it.

The book is way better.
Check out any book by Philip K. Dick.
Blade Runner was originally called,
Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep.
He also wrote Paycheck, Total Recall, and Scanners.
All before the 70's.
He basically wrote about technology we have today even before it was invented.

Rutgar Haur's speach at the end is one of my favourite sequences in any film, couple it with Vangelis's soundtrack and Ridley Scott's
eye and there is no better Sci Fi.

Best bit of the film is that it dosn't hand you the answer on a plate, when you see the directors cut and the small sequnce of the unicorn added, the film becomes awesome.

It's been a long time since I watched it (after all, it was made in 1982), but yes it was a great film.
I mean how athletic was Daryl Hannah?
And always liked Rutger Hauer too.

not a bad harrison ford flick, alittle to dark in the cinematography, but an overall 3.56 on a scale of 1 to 5. i actually preffer harrison ford more in the indiana jones role and the star wars role.
