Registering with Comapanies House. Do a google search for Comapnies House OR Registrar of Companies to get more detail. There are minimum requirements that must be adhered to depending on the size of the company to be registered so read up on this to avaoid being turned down.

Registering a company officially. But you can use a different definition if you want. If you started in a garage, unofficially, nobody will hold it against you if you say that was the starting date. You will have evidence that supports your claim. In legal issues, it differs
