fitness, practise and do the simple things. pass and move...it sounds so easy but it's not. being a captain probably means you are a good motivator so help those around you.

Some good advice from previous respondents - to summarise
Firstly get fit and stay fit. Before the game build up the confidence of your own team. Go through the team, name by name, extolling their virtues to their team mates. This gives a massive boost to morale.
Practise playing the ball with both feet until you are confident in playing the ball with either foot.
Watch videos of good centre midfield players, understand what they do and how they read the game. Bobby Moore, don't laugh, no pace, but he was always there. Pass the ball into space, not necessarily to feet. Try to take out the defenders with the pass.
Be confident in your own abilities and those of your team mates.
Encourage other players when things go right and encourage them when things go wrong. Don't blame or criticise.
Don't criticise the referee. If you must, ask him the reason for a decision you don't like, politely, and then walk away and explain the decision to the offending player.
Have vision beyond the first pass or obvious move. Run into space, don't stand still. Always offer support/options to the player with the ball, if practical. Score goals. Make sure you always hit the target. If you don't score, a team mate might off a rebound.
Hey, I was a rugby player, but love football as well.

For a centre midfielder, you have to have a super engine to be able to defend and attack.Train hard eg;passing, heading, tackling, sprinting, shooting, marking players, and finding space. These things are standard for your position the more you practice the better you will get,all so being able to read the game and spot sticky situations before they creep up on you.And being the captain you must be able to talk to every one on a level.Just be positive even when you feel that some one is not giving 100%,and only positive critsism other wise team mates may not want to listen and might leave,or just do their own thing.

Practice using both feet. Being two footed is a massive advantage on the football field. Practice using your weaker foot by passing along a white line. kicking a ball against a wall with both feet will also help. But the most important aspect of football is control. If you can control the ball instantly you will tear teams apart. ways to improve this would be through 'keepy uppies' and close one-two passing with a friend. Hope this helps and i look forward to seeing you on the world stage. Don't forget who helped you to get there though lol

i played centre mid for a few years at schools and amateur levels, work on your stamina, you would,nt believe the amount of games your team will win in the last twenty minutes of a match, ask your forwards to always make a run when you get the ball,it will create spacefor you to move into ,work hard on your first touch as you will find yourself being closed down often.try to be available as much as possible for your defenders or they will resort to the long ball, most importantly tackle and you will inspire all of your team to be like you.good luck cos when its done right its the most awesome sight in football(keane, souness robson and vieira).

first of all you have to be confident with yourself, and coz you play midfield( important role) you have to be fit because you need to run up and down to help attack and defence, work on your shooting by taking long distance shots to! cheers
