for medication things, you better ask your doctor to be on the safe side. when i was pregnant though, i also had colds & coughs...but i never bothered to drink any medicines. even if the doctor told me it's fine...mother's instincts you know. i don't want the medicines to affect my baby, even with the consent of my OB. what i did is natural, drank plenty of fluids, water & juices, ate healthily, & right exercise like walking & swimming.
goodluck on your upcoming baby!

Any mediciation that would help a severe cold is not recommended during pregnancy. Steam is good, lots of sleep, vitamin C, chicken soup and teas all help to some extent. Old fashioned comforts work to some extent, but that's really the only thing that can be done at this point. The doc may be able to suggest something.

You should always check with the dr first since they are the ones who know your health history and the status of your pregnancy. If your wife has pre eclampsia for example, there might be certain issues that your dr would need to address prior to approving medicines. That being said, I was told that there actually are meds that are safe to take during your standard pregnancy. If looking for something with a pain reliever however you should only take something that has TYLENOL in it as opposed to motrin or ibuprofin. Women no longer need to suffer through the pregnant sinus infection or allergy etc. Trust in your Dr. Good luck to you.

She should not take anything for pain except for Tylenol! Tylenol is the only thing doctors will let you take for pain, and the package only says that to cover their own butts, but its perfectly fine. No asprin or anything else. As for the other medications, most likely she can NOT take them, but you need to ask a doctor asap. Better yet, Look up a 24 hour Walgreens or CVS pharmacy and ask them RIGHT NOW before she takes anything else! :) Pharmacists sometimes know more about the drugs than doctors do.

For non-medicine treatment bed rest , cool cloth to forehead, increased fluids (vitamin C juices) humidifier, cool mist vaporizer, chicken soup.If she has a fever of over a 100 degrees call your physician. To be on the safe side call your Dr anyway.He/she may want to see her.

You should always call your OB and ask what you can take. But I've always been told that I can have Robotussin DM and Sudafed. I've heard of ladies being able to have Tylenol cold and sinus but in all four of my pregnancies I've been told that it's off limits.

You need to call her ob/gyn or family doctor. They will be able to give her a medication that is safe for both her and the baby.

she can pretty much take anything over the counter. As long as you are through the first trimester, it is fine to take decongestants, cough suppressants, tylenol, advil, etc...as long as she follows the correct dosing on the label it is absolutely fine.

Ask the doctor or nurse looking after her case what would be appropriate.
