my tank is 15 litres, with two fantail fish and a filter with an airpump. the filter already cleans more than 15 litres each hour, but algae still forms around the sides. i know you can buy drops for it, but i would like to know if there is such bottom feeder or something that can survive in 15 litres and with goldfish. i have a sucker fish in my other aquirium tank, but it is with tropical fish in warm water. thank you for reading. i hope someone has the answer thanx.

Two large snails would do the trick, and they won't add to the bio-load of your tank. Cut back on what you feed a bit, the fish waste just turns into more algae. Make sure you change your light bulbs. If you have regular light bulbs, replace them every two month, florescent lights should be okay for at least six months.

You're way overstocked. You don't have room for any more fish. That tank only holds about 4 US gallons. Fancy goldfish need 10 gallons per goldfish and a filter that moves 10 times the gallons in the tank per hour. If it's brown algae, you could add some ramshorn snails. They'd have to be larger than the goldies' mouths, or they'd get eaten.

I'd suggest getting them into at least a 20 gallon tank witha filter that moves 200 gallons per hour.

You could get a Placostapus. (not sure of the spelling) I had one in my 100 gallon tank and it kept it really clean. When I first got it, it was about 1 1/2" long and when I got rid of my fish tank it was about 8 1/2 " in length. Had it for 5 years.

Yes, cat fish! Some stick to the glass and suck up all the dirt and some swim at the bottom and eat things such as algae. They are really cheap- believe me!!!

if your sucker fish is a "sucking catfish" (not a bristle-nosed catfish), then it can survive in cold water and could be moved to your goldfish tank for a week or so, then put back into your tropical tank.

In Australia, they survive quite well in cold water aquariums. I have one in an outdoor pond, where the ambient temperature ranges from -1degC to 45degC.

Buy snails, they go around your tank eating algae and fish crap. But make sure your fish are fed well and regularly because they will eat the snails if you don't.
