I keep my expectations on the "mediocre" range. I find that whenever I have had "great expectations," they never quite meet reality. So even when I need to be joyous of a certain accomplishment, it is downplayed only because it never truly met the "GREAT" in the expectation category.
When you keep your expectations modest........everything seems to fit reality perfectly! No disappointments.......:) And the benefit is that when it turns out to be GREAT......it has exceeded the expectation that was modestly .......uhm......expected.
Have a moderately good day. *wink*

Yeah, with my teenage son. He's straight A's and I feel will go far in life. But, I don't let him know how high my expectations are. I want him to grow up normally. To have a normal teenage life. He knows I expect good things from him but won't be disappointed if he doesn't achieve ALL his goals...He has several and I support him. Don't want him to "burn out"....I just want him to be happy in his Life...
