Sure you can. The autocad has an option that turns 2 dimensions drawings in 3d. You have to learn some extra keys and options but is similar to the 3dmax, the only thing it takes a bit more work because you have to work every side of the the car and them join them together.
For example where in the 3max you could have two sides and them by the touch of a key the gap between them would be filled in autocad you have to build smaller triangles or rectangles between the two faces and them fill them with a hatch.

Hullo, It's been years since I used Auto CAD. But I remember it seemed to be geared to generic drafting, like engineering, Piping, and Architecture. Specialized fields were not easily drawn it Auto CAD.

For example, I worked in the wholesale cooking industry for a short while. Auto CAD was helpful but it was not at all geared toward what was needed. A person had developed a program to utilize the specialized symbols (lines grouped together that form a drawing that can be inserted in a drawing) and other menu options. I was not trained on the system and it contained alot of bugs.

I can imagine that the special geometries and airflow would need a specialized program of it s own design or one that worked with Auto CAD. Good luck though. I sure Autocrat has evolved out of it's generic shell and can provide more tools for specialized industries.

PS I worked in a car armoring company doing drafting. CAD was limited to refitting cars with glass with formulas from premade programs. Car design has to be out there.

If you are proficient with AutoCAD, you can design anything you want. There are some machine shops that use AutoCAD dwg files to create machine parts and 3d models.
