He wasn't quite 3 months old yet - the toy had rings on it, so it was easy for him to grab and maneuver into his mouth. He liked to suck on it.

My son started to really play with toys about 6-7 months old and the toy he loved to play with was Baby Einstein toy that played music.
I think that the first toy you give your child should be something he can play with over and over and really learn how to work it in all ways, Baby Einstein has great toys for a new brain.
Hope this helps?

My boy really started playing when he could sit unassisted, around 6 mths. I think his favorite toy is the fisher price stacking rings. You know the ones we all had when we were kids. He always has on or two rings in his hands still and he is 10 mnths now.

My son started playing with toys at about 3 months. He would lay on his belly on the floor with toys around him. He could scoot around at the time. He loved rattles and anything that made noise

About 5 months when he was able to sit up on his own with support. He didn't have a favorite toy back then.

I have a preemie, so she really didn't play until about seven months old on her tummy. She loved tummy time books or anything with mirrors. She, too, has this Fischer Price peek-a-blocks set that she started playing with when she could sit unassisted, which didn't happen until about ten months. She's now 14 months and still plays with the blocks DAILY!!

my baby would swat at toys at about 3 months old but didn't really start playing until she could sit up by herself (about 6 months old)
