Daniel Hecht's works: The Cree Black Trilogy(Skull Session, The Babel Effect, Puppets,) City of Masks, Land of Echoes, and the latest addition is the Bones of the Barbary Coast

When I read a book i do not allow the reviewer in my to come anywhere near me. I find that for enjoyment of a work of art we have ,as it were, to go under the skin of the artist. Otherwise it would be like what happened to God Brahmdev. Before starting creation he creted an adviser who coud give his considered judgement about the Beings. But the adviser began to find fault almost with every creation and suggested improvements. EXasperated the God de-created him. The reviewer inside us who has paid for the work is always on the lookout for something amiss to jump on it.The result is completely spoiling the reading session.

Had you reined the commentator inide you ,you would have joined Jonathan Kellerman and found the books "Vividly atmospheric, rich with twists and turns . . . Daniel Hecht has created something quite original: the neuropathologic gothic.”

You really have a point that Hecht's shift from pseudo-scientific to supernatural is rather galling However, I find that he had ,so to say dressed the ghosts in genext clothes His take of the paranormal is distinctly differen. Thef ghosts do not look like the familiar ones we usually see in movies, horror stories, or fairy tales. He seems to be trying to figure out a few fundamental truths that will help him live a good life. While he appears to believe in the literal reality of ghosts, but he also seems to think of them as allegories or symbols for psychological processes. Their occurrence provides an opportunity for people to better understand, and to change, their lives I remember that in one of his interviews he has said that he had had some paranormal experiences.

As they say book is the best friend you can have. The moment you get bored with him he clamps up and whenever you regain the mood to talk it is there by your side to talk to you.
