The first "car" with an internal combution engine was the Benz. The model T Ford was not the first production car, It is generally credited with being the first car built on a "constant" moving production line but Henery Ford did not invent the production line, other companys were using "production lines" before he did.

First car was the patent motorwagen by Karl Benz of Mannheim, Germany in 1885. It had 3 wheels. In 1888 Frau Bertha Benz drove it more than 106 km (63 miles) from Mannhein to Pforzheim with her two sons, carrying out running repairs on the way. This was the first long drive by any person.

Karl Benz was one of the founders of Daimler-Benz, now called Daimler-Chrysler.
