Roses come in every colour except blue and true black. You can get some great information on all rose colours at www.flowers.org.uk. Just click on flower facts on the top menu bar. It also has a special page on "black" roses - really very darkest red - including the best variety names to ask for at the florists. Breeders are working on different rose colours all the time but it takes around seven years from cross-pollination (the first stage of breeding) to develop a finished flowering plant. The growers then have to propagate this one mother plant to produce enough plants for commercial quantities, and then promote the new rose well, so that enough people want to buy it to make it worth growing.

Hi!

I looked it up on Wikipedia and I guess a true black rose doesn't exist...

1. Red: love
2. Light Pink: admiration, sympathy
3. Pink: grace, lesser feelings of love
4. Dark Pink: gratitude
5. Orange: passion
6. Yellow: dying love or platonic love. (In German-speaking countries, however, they can mean jealousy and infidelity.)

7. Yellow with Red Tips: friendship, falling in love
8. Green: calm
9. Blue: mystery
10. Purple: protection (paternal/maternal love)
11. Burgundy: beauty

12. Black: slavish devotion (as a true black rose is impossible to produce)

13. White: innocence, purity, secrecy, friendship, reverence and humility.

Hope this helps...
T.

Lavender - love at first sight and enhancement
Orange - desire, enthusiasm and fascination
Pink (Deep) - thank You
