read between the lines! this is what the producers call "good telly viewing" if everybody was an excellent singer or performer nobody would watch! thousands of hopefuls enter because they are starrey eyed with all the glam of showbiz and attention not to mention they could earn millions trying to be the next kylie or robbie. Simon Cowlell hit on a gold mine when they first did pop idol and these no hopers are the main part of the set up to get the viewing figures. the only real winner is Simon and his fat bank balance!

I love all of it, I think it's better at the beginning but when you get to know the contestants the live shows are fantastic and the arguing between the judges is really good. And if you play the game of "Guess how many glasses of wine Sharon has had before the show" it gets even funnier

I agree, that is the best bit and it's also the part where I get addicted and so that's why I continue watching until the end. I missed all of the auditions this time round and now I'm not at all fussed about watching the rest of it!

The sad thing is the people at the auditions think they can sing, and are upset when they are made fools of. They are especially picked so the audience can have a laugh at their expense.

I think the whole thing is horrible and some good points have been raised in your answers. Why don't people's families tell them they CAN'T SING?
I don't know how Simon Cowell (UK) has avoided a serious beating up. There is no need to be so insulting to misguided youngsters.....but it ups the ratings. It's like bear-baiting......horrible.

I totally agree! I can't believe some of these people think they can sing, its absolutely hilarious! Once it all gets serious it is no fun to watch...we want more people making a fool of themselves!
